C&N Assignment 2 – Rework

C&N Assignment 2 – Rework

Not all that is alike is the same.

Artists statement

Many things are unseen in life but are omnipresent in our lives.  One of these things is the passage of time and in particularly a day. We are all given 24 hours, however, everyone has a different preconception of what they need to get through that day, but not these needs are necessary. Within this series of images, I hope to show what different people envisage are there need for the same day but at the same time allow the audience to decide why the person needs, them or understand why they are needed or just wonder way the need such items.

Assignment notes

As discussed in an earlier blog post my I got my premises confused and cluttered in my earlier submission – wanted to concentrate on what time means and I got bogged down to the buying time idea – which was not tied to the real world.

In this set of images, the idea to show the same to but different thing attached to it, from activities to food, from money to cigarettes. The images represent what different people think they need to get through the day.

  1. Money
  2. Medication
  3. Fun
  4. “20 a day” – feed an addiction
  5. 5 a day
  6. Nothing

I have titled the images with a person name and age to acting as to, in Bartherian terms, relay the meaning of the photograph. The titles are there to feed the viewer imagination, who are these people what are they looking for, perhaps it will lead the view to my interpretation but as is the way with art I expect some people will add their own interpretation which can only, in my opinion, add to the piece from my perspective.

Hi Pete,

I’m glad you reworked it.  I can’t give you another round of feedback, but it looks more interesting than the last.  The aspect of time isn’t in this one.  I guess you ditched it, apart from the calendar.
Best to move on now.  Reworking always looks good.
Robert

Obviously, I wasn’t expecting a full round of feedback but these words are encouraging and have given me the confidence to move on from this assignment.
