A brief reflection…

Today I am having a catch up on my blog; I have been very busy of late with a new job, the additional commuting time and time away for a work training course. Plus I have not had the best environment to work over the last few months too; however, this seems to have rectified now, so I hope to start to make some steps forward.

Although I have been active with the course, the major thing was the submission assignment 2 to my tutor with the least amount of confidence I had for a piece of academic work since I was in high school. This lack of trust also combined a lack of time, and comfortable work environment lead to poor blog housekeeping, such as posting feedback from assignment 1.

You will see in later posts that A2 was a poorly written hotchpotch of ideas, inadequate referencing and typos that made it look like a blindfolded chimpanzee drafted it. However, from a disaster can only come recovery and I have to say a big thank you to my tutor Andrew Conroy for I think going the extra mile and giving me invaluable advice on how to go about reworking the assignment. Andrew also put me in contact with learner support who again talked me through the issues I had with my essay – something I would never have considering doing. Problems in knowing how to write an academic essay weren’t something I thought they would cover; I figured it was more serious stuff like “I was to drop out” or “I need an extension” not just something as mundane as stressing over not know the level for a degree essay.

I have to say I have had doubts over the last week as to whether this is the right course for me but I stick to my decision – it is. I took this course because of my love of cinema and because I wanted to develop my research skills as an academic essay and critical analysis is something that will be much more significant in level 2. I’m happy to be having this issues now – it’s all part of the learning process.
